Η Khelanem Company είναι μια ανεξάρτητη ομάδα σύγχρονου χορού και σωματικού θεάτρου με έδρα την Ελλάδα. Δημιουργήθηκε από τη Βαλεντίνη Γιαννοπούλου, σε συνεργασία με τον Omar Gordon και τη Λάουρα Στεφανίδη.
Η ομάδα δημιουργεί παραστάσεις που συνδυάζουν σύγχρονο χορό, σωματικό θέατρο με επιρροές από τις τεχνικές Lecoq και αυτοσχεδιασμό. Το έργο της αντλεί έμπνευση από την ελληνική μυθολογία, την αρχαία τραγωδία και τον κινηματογράφο, δημιουργώντας ατμοσφαιρικούς κόσμους όπου η κίνηση γίνεται φορέας συναισθήματος, μνήμης και μεταμόρφωσης.
Η καλλιτεχνική ταυτότητα της Khelanem διαμορφώνεται μέσα από το διεθνές υπόβαθρο και τις διαφορετικές εμπειρίες των μελών της, που εκτείνονται από τον χορό και το θέατρο έως τον αυτοσχεδιασμό και την κοινωνική δράση. Αυτή η πολυμορφία επιτρέπει στην ομάδα να προσεγγίζει κάθε δημιουργία πολυδιάστατα, εξερευνώντας χαρακτήρες, συναισθήματα και ανθρώπινες καταστάσεις με βάθος και πρωτοτυπία.
Στον πυρήνα της Khelanem βρίσκεται το σώμα — εκφραστικό, ευάλωτο και δυναμικό. Κάθε παράσταση επιδιώκει να προσφέρει στο κοινό μια μεταμορφωτική εμπειρία, ανοίγοντας έναν χώρο έντασης, στοχασμού και κοινής παρουσίας.
Khelanem Company is an independent contemporary dance and physical theatre company based in Greece, founded by Valentina Giannopoulou, in collaboration with Omar Gordon and Laura Stefanidis.
The company creates performances that bring together contemporary dance, physical theatre inspired by Lecoq techniques, and improvisation. Its work is deeply influenced by Greek mythology, ancient tragedy, and cinema, shaping atmospheric worlds where movement becomes a vehicle for emotion, memory, and transformation.
Khelanem’s artistic identity is shaped by its international background and the diverse experiences of its members, spanning dance, theatre, physical performance, improvisation, and social engagement. This diversity allows the company to approach each creation from multiple perspectives, exploring characters, emotions, and human conditions with depth and originality.
At the core of Khelanem’s practice lies the body — expressive, vulnerable, and dynamic. Each performance seeks to offer the audience a transformative experience, inviting them into a space of intensity, reflection, and shared presence.
Βαλεντίνη Γιαννοπούλου
Η Βαλεντίνη Γιαννοπούλου είναι περφόρμερ, χορεύτρια, χορογράφος και καθηγήτρια σύγχρονου χορού και σωματικού θεάτρου. Αποφοίτησε από την πειραματική ακαδημία χορού SEAD στην Αυστρία (2013). Από τότε έχει συνεργαστεί με διεθνείς και ελληνικές ομάδες, μεταξύ των οποίων οι Jasmin Vardimon Company (Αγγλία), Ελεύθερη Πτώση (Ελλάδα), Novy Priestor (Σλοβακία), Johannes Wieland Company (Γερμανία) και η βραβευμένη διεθνής θεατρική ομάδα Punchdrunk (Αγγλία – Κίνα). Το έργο της εστιάζει στη σωματικότητα, την ατμόσφαιρα και τη μεταμορφωτική δύναμη της κίνησης.
Valentine Giannopoulou is a performer, dancer, choreographer, and teacher of contemporary dance and physical theatre. She graduated from the experimental dance academy SEAD in Austria (2013). Since then, she has collaborated with a range of international and Greek companies, including Jasmin Vardimon Company (UK), Eleftheri Ptosi (Greece), Novy Priestor (Slovakia), Johannes Wieland Company (Germany), and the award-winning international theatre company Punchdrunk (UK – China). Her work focuses on physicality, atmosphere, and the transformative potential of movement.
Omar Gordon
Ο Omar Gordon είναι χορευτής, περφόρμερ, ballet master και παιδαγωγός κίνησης με διεθνή πορεία σχεδόν τριών δεκαετιών. Σπούδασε στη Central School of Ballet στο Λονδίνο και εργάστηκε για πολλά χρόνια με το Northern Ballet, φτάνοντας στη θέση του Principal Artist. Η καριέρα του περιλαμβάνει συνεργασίες με σημαντικούς οργανισμούς και ομάδες σε όλη την Ευρώπη, όπως οι Aterballetto (Ιταλία), Ballet de l’Opéra National de Lyon (Γαλλία) και Stadttheater Bern (Ελβετία). Έχει συνεργαστεί με κορυφαίους χορογράφους, μεταξύ των οποίων οι William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Hofesh Shechter και Alexander Ekman. Παράλληλα, έχει συμμετάσχει σε μεγάλες immersive παραγωγές της Punchdrunk Theatre Company, όπως τα The Drowned Man και Sleep No More Shanghai. Στο παιδαγωγικό του έργο εστιάζει στη μετάβαση χορευτών κλασικής εκπαίδευσης προς τον σύγχρονο χορό.
Omar Gordon is a dancer, performer, ballet master, and movement educator with an international career spanning nearly three decades. He trained at the Central School of Ballet in London and danced for several years with Northern Ballet, where he rose to the position of Principal Artist. His career has included collaborations with major companies and institutions across Europe, including Aterballetto in Italy, Ballet de l’Opéra National de Lyon in France, and Stadttheater Bern in Switzerland. He has worked with renowned choreographers such as William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián, Hofesh Shechter, and Alexander Ekman. Omar has also collaborated with Punchdrunk Theatre Company in large-scale immersive productions, including The Drowned Man and Sleep No More Shanghai. Alongside his performance career, he has developed a teaching practice focused on supporting classically trained dancers in transitioning into contemporary dance.
Λάουρα Στεφανίδη
Η Λάουρα Στεφανίδη είναι καλλιτέχνις σωματικού θεάτρου. Δημιουργεί και συνεργάζεται σε θεατρικές παραστάσεις, ενώ παράλληλα συντονίζει σεμινάρια και εργαστήρια. Γεννήθηκε στην Ελλάδα και μοιράζει τη βάση της ανάμεσα στην Αθήνα και το Αμβούργο. Σπούδασε στο International School of Theatre Jacques Lecoq στο Παρίσι και στο LISPA (σημερινό Arthaus) στο Βερολίνο, όπου διαμόρφωσε τις βάσεις ενός εκφραστικού και κινούμενου σώματος. Η πρακτική της αντλεί έμπνευση από τον χορό, τη μάσκα, το τσίρκο, το Shaolin Kung Fu, τον κλόουν και την τέχνη του κουκλοθεάτρου. Το έργο της αντιμετωπίζει το θέατρο ως χώρο συνάντησης κίνησης, αφήγησης και μυθικών τόπων.
Laura Stefanidis is a physical theatre artist. She creates and collaborates in theatre performances and facilitates seminars and workshops. Born in Greece, she is currently based between Athens and Hamburg. She studied at the International School of Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and at LISPA (now Arthaus) in Berlin, where she developed the foundations of a moving and expressive body. Her practice draws inspiration from dance, mask work, circus, Shaolin Kung Fu, clown, and puppetry. Her work approaches theatre as a medium where movement, narration, and mythical spaces merge into new realities.
